My Very Own Louis Vuitton!

Well the day has finally come....the Ebene Damier Speedy 30 is mine! I mentioned my obsession with this bag in my birthday blog, when I got my LV gift card from my lovely sisters. I have wanted this bag for over a year, it seemed like the perfect accessory for the fall and winter seasons. I'm sorry, this probably doesn't seem like a blog worthy topic to some of you, but I have waited so long and spent so much, that it deserves some attention. Here is my little Louis story (just close your browser if you have already rolled your eyes).

Before I start I have to tell you that I have always scoffed at expensive designer bags, it is something I refused to ever purchase. But there was just something about this bag, it seemed so perfect, timeless, compliments any outfit, and is perfect for the colder months. Because of this, I lowered my standards and bought a Louis Vuitton.

With a new job and recent move to Philly I couldn't bring myself to spend my paycheck on this bag, so I got creative. I sold my belongings. It sounds worse than it is really,  I didn't sell bone marrow, I sold items I didn't use anymore. My mom was cleaning out her attic to sell old dishes and friends were selling items on eBay, so I looked around my apartment and dug through my storage unit. This is what I found:
1. Old iPhone = $300
2. Old Blackberry = $100 (got for free originally)
3. Really old cell phone = $50 (again got for free originally)
4. Pottery Barn Duvet = $50
5. Random textbook = $50
5. Digital Camera = $350

I added my earnings to some birthday money and the gift card which gave me a total of $1100. I know what you're thinking...I'm an excellent business woman! I continued to use my brains to upgrade my iPhone and put some money aside for a new camera (my blog pictures have been taken with my phone since October, couldn't even tell, could you?). So with cash in hand, I headed to the LV store at the King of Prussia Mall. I had looked forward to going all week and when I got there, the sales woman sadly told me that they were out of stock...in the entire country :( Apparently each one is hand made and in very high demand (of course it is, I have exquisite taste). Disappointed, I put my name on the waiting list and took my money back home. Four weeks later, after I came to the conclusion that I was never getting this bag, I received the call telling me that my bag was waiting for me in the store. It felt like Christmas came early this year. They asked to verify my address so they could ship it and I quickly told them I would pick it up, to ensure that it gets in the right hands!
So this morning I happily left the city to pick up my very own Louis Vuitton. When I greeted the saleswoman and told her why I was there, she explained that she had to go into the back and asked for my ID, it was at that moment that I realized the intensity of this purchase. Before slipping it into the bag, I was asked to confirm the condition and check that the hot stamping (monogram) was what I had requested. I have to tell you, I will save that Louis Vuitton shopping bag forever. Here are some shots of my favorite new addition :)

Well Hillary, your mom shared with me your blog today when I was over helping her with her Christmas class. I must tell you have had the most delightful evening reading and thoroughly enjoying your beautiful blog. You are such an easy to read writer and you certainly have some of your dear mother in you when it comes to your flair with decorating and all things pretty and yummy. Thank you for a wonderful read. Can't wait to see you and Riley on Thanksgiving Day. Love ya, Julie

Omg... your monogram is on it??

1. I may roll my eyes at you when I see you carrying it.

2. You better hope it wasn't "handmade" in a sweatshop somewhere.

3. If Christmas came early, do we still have to buy you Christmas gifts?

4. I'm glad you have a new baby, just don't start ignoring Riley.

5. It's a very nice bag and (shhh!) I'm happy for you :)

Love,
Your little sis
