Snowy Philadelphia

Its been awhile...sorry, January hasn't been too inspiring. We've had a few big storms so far in this area and the one last week was the worst yet. Even though its difficult to get around and even more challenging to park, the city does look wonderful covered in a blanket of snow. Because of the weather, I haven't spent too much time outside lately but yesterday bf and I pulled on our boots and explored a little. As we were walking, I was thinking about how some of these areas looked last summer and in the fall. How lucky am I to live here and be able to experience all of these seasons. Here are some pictures of our little winter wonderland in Philly.
I blogged about Headhouse Row in the summer because I spent many Sundays browsing the farmers market there. Looks a bit different now. On our way to see a movie, we walked through one of parks in the historic area downtown. It looks so peaceful, doesn't it?

Bf was nice enough to go see Blue Valentine with me at the Ritz, an independent film theater. This cinema is on my list of Philly to do's and it felt like the perfect day to go. The theater is old and small, with yummy snacks and friendly employees. A much more intimate experience than going to one of the gargantuan theaters outside of the city. And we weren't the only ones looking to enjoy a sad love story on a Sunday afternoon, the place was packed. All kinds of people piled into the theater, carrying their hot coffees or buttery popcorn, and throwing their scarves and coats on chairs next to them. The movie was funny, sweet, sad, disturbing, and real - Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams really held our interest for two straight hours. Afterward we walked over to Zahav, a middle eastern restaurant next door. We were introduced to it last month and anxious to get back for more Turkish hummus.
It doesn't look very exciting on the outside but its dark and cozy inside. Even in the cold weather, it ended up being a beautiful Sunday. We sat at the bar enjoying some white wine and warm hummus, comparing notes about the movie. Now its time to get ready for more snow!
