Christmas in the City Part I

As you know, its my first Christmas in Philadelphia, so its my goal to enjoy as much of the season as possible. Since I'm already left with just two weeks until Christmas, I really need to slow down and get focused. Its very easy to get distracted with work, boring to do's, and new people in my life. So in order to make sure that I really do slow down (Hello ADD!) I am committing to writing at least three posts before Christmas. Its very easy for all the tasks that come along with the holidays to feel like obligations, but I'm pretty sure that's not the point. Since I don't work until later this afternoon, I'm taking advantage of this time and getting down to business. I know I will feel so much better once a few things are checked off my list. So here is the first post about my favorite time of year.

Decorating my apartment is step one. I started when I got back from NYC after Thanksgiving, but not too much has been done. The upside about condensing my belongings into an apartment is that I can choose only my favorite decorations to put out this year. Of course, I didn't forget the endless amounts of pine scented candles!
N & M note your favorite Christmas movie in the background!

While working in the suburbs last Saturday, I picked out a tree and hauled it back to the city. It's had only lights on it for almost a week, so I'm finally committing to decorating it! I turned on Christmas Vacation and got busy.

The finished product! You have no idea how excited I am to have my very own fireplace! All I have to do is figure out how to turn it on...but once I do, I have a feeling it will  be on all the time! I can't wait to snuggle in on cold winter nights, I might have to leave the tree up through February....

Sunday night was spent doing more Christmasy things including looking at the lights. Nothing says Christmas like a cup of Starbucks holiday coffee and a new boyfriend to drink it with :)

Now its time to wrap the first few gifts to tuck under the tree. Up next: Holiday shopping and a Christmas filled Sunday in the city

I can't see the movie in the pic -- it better not be A Christmas Story! I'm watching The Holiday right now, as I finish up some online shopping. Now it's final paper time! I guess it wouldn't be the holiday season w/o finals week. I need a Christmas tree too :( Yours looks awesome! Can't wait to see the apartment decked out on Sunday and to join you both in Christmas fun! <3
