As soon as I stepped foot in that apartment on Pine Street I knew I had to have it. It was a tad out of my budget but I was determined to make it work. The beautiful woodwork, high ceilings, working fireplace, french doors, and balcony were mine the first time I laid eyes on them. It seemed like the perfect pairing to my new life in the city.
But on this day my time in center city Philadelphia has come to an end. As I stood in my empty apartment I fondly remembered sitting down to write my first blog entry, hosting my family for our first Christmas away from home, all the decorating choices I debated, the bubble baths on quiet nights alone, parties and entertaining, returning home to my beautiful closet with new Anthropologie threads, the first time hubby-to-be stopped at the apartment, our first kiss at the door, enjoying many bottles of wine, and wonderfully fun sister weekends. I had many transitions in this place, firsts and lasts that I'll cherish my whole life.
And as I locked the door for the last time I briefly pictured some other twenty something with high hopes and big dreams moving her things through this door. I smiled to myself and walked down the stairs to meet hubby-to-be.
