The Philadelphia Home Show

With the first snowfall of the year this weekend, I was happy to get out my boots and plow through the city to get to the Philadelphia Home Show with Bf. Now that it is much, much colder outside I am even more interested in create a warm, comfortable home at Bf's. This of course involves paint, decorating ideas, rearranging furniture, updating window coverings, and lots of new stuff. I'm trying to take my time but the colder it gets, the more I want to cozy up inside. And this weekend was the perfect opportunity to get out and gather inspiration for his home.

Although we were hoping to get some home renovation and DIY ideas, we came back empty handed. When we got inside we realized it was a lot of landscaping businesses, pool and sauna displays, and roofing and siding examples. Not exactly the unique ideas we were hoping for! Clover Market had a pop up shop which did give me a little taste of what's to come in the spring. It included some of the same sellers but also a few new ones. Bf kindly let me know, that I couldn't carry anything home :(

And Denise from The Painted Home also had a display with some decorating inspiration. I recently started following her blog after she had an appearance on a local tv show. She is an interior designer offering services in your home but she will also create an inspiration board for a room of choice and send you on your way. I love this service because sometimes you just need a little inspiration to get started - a piece of fabric, color pallete, and furniture idea, could be just the right thing to get you going! Bf and I didn't get a chance to chat with her, she was surronded by fans, but we loved her display. She had a sign displayed that said "Ask...It's probably for sale", good idea! She really has some great taste, like this display at the show...
She had a bedroom with this dresser that was missing the drawers. Then she stuck vintage suitcases inside to store items. So creative! I've seen a lot of vintage suitcases recently, here are some other ways they have been used. All photos were found on Pinterest.

Another one from The Painted Home!
With a day off from work today, I've got painting on my list. One of the simplist ways to update your space! What have you found inspiring to help you get through these long winter days?
