Kitchen & Pantry Design

As you know, Bf and I have been renovating his 1950's kitchen, in hopes of making it more useable and more sellable in the future. We've got it all painted (cabinets, walls, and trim), bought a smaller fridge, rearranged the appliances and are about to put up a new window covering. Still on our list are installing butcher block countertops, replacing the floor, adding open shelves to one of the walls, and updating the light fixture (fluorescent lighting, yuck!). As of last week, we have the shelves and brackets and are ready to get them up! Here are some of the pictures that have inpired this idea. I hope you love them as much as I do!

I've created a pile of the items I purchased or pulled out of boxes to put up on the shelf. They're just waiting for a home! Ah hem, Bf!

In the meantime, I've moved onto the pantry which is in the basement stairwell. This rundown, gray and bright yellow space was just screaming for a makeover.

So one day I just started painting it with the same trim color used in the kitchen. Now it's so much cleaner and I'm motivated to use this space!

But I'm not done yet! I plan to hang wire baskets or a spice rack right inside the basement door. Painting the lovely gray stairs the same shade of white and buying a runner to install myself! Then finally painting the walls a neutral color and redecorating the basement...I won't go as far as finishing it completely, my goal is just to make it a little more welcoming. Helping future buyers to see the potential in that space!

Luckily I enjoy doing all of this stuff and Bf loves the results! That makes one happy couple :)
