Fri. Sat. Sun.

Its one of the first summer weekends and bf suggested we have a nice dinner before meeting his friends for dancing in Rittenhouse. We decided on Friday Saturday Sunday, a restaurant a few blocks from the park. Bf had taken me to this romantic spot on our third dinner date so just the idea of us going here again makes me happy. He had talked about this restaurant more than any other in the city, so I decided to trust him on its wonderfulness.
The first time we walked in we were greeted quickly by a smiling, friendly host who remembered bf by name (because of his reservation request) and happily took us upstairs to a cozy little table. Something that makes Fri. Sat. Sun. unique is that the walls are lined with mirrors. On our third date this made me a little uncomfortable because I was already self conscious about my appearance but on our forty fifth - no biggie. This time we were again greeted by the same smiling face, who seated downstairs in a corner booth. Again with the mirrors, but its cool.
On top of having a full bar this place is BYOB, so I happily pulled a bottle of Prosecco out of my bag. Our waiter walked up and casually started chatting while popping our bottle, as if we were regulars. I have to say that next to the food, this is my favorite thing about Fri. Sat. Sun. The wait staff is so incredibly friendly you feel like you're in their personal dining room rather than their place of business (note to self about running a successful business). One obvious reason why this restaurant has been around for almost thirty eight years.

It took us some time to decide on our entrees, everything looked so inviting. Every night they also have a black board full of tantilizing specials, which of course included the chocolate dessert we couldn't turn down. This is always a pleasant bonus to their regular menu.
All along the way we were being taken care of by the doting staff that didn't make us feel rushed. After a reasonable wait, which allowed us time for two glasses of wine, our food was served - fabulously delicious, piping hot, and full of "homegrown" ingredients. I ordered the double thick pork chop, which had tons of flavor and bf got the slow roasted duck - moist and creamy. We went back and forth eating off of each others plates. Who doesn't love a place where you can do this?
As bf and I sat chatting over our dishes we were interrupted by a chorus of an edited version of "Happy Birthday" to recognize a fortieth anniversary being celebrated on the other side of the wall. Our "host" walked back through our room, taking their cake into the kitchen to be cut, and shared with us about the celebration happening next door. If I didn't know any better I would have thought he knew this group personally. It got me thinking about how comfortable it would feel to have a party in this restaurant, again being treated like an old friend on a special occasion can never get old.
I would highly recommend a stop at this restaurant the next time you're in Rittenhouse, its unlike any "Philly" hospitality experience you've had. I promise!
