My Love for All Things Vintage

I've been inspired by some of my favorite blogs, books, and magazines to share beautiful decorating ideas with you.

Heather Bullard has a beautiful blog, actually the very first one I read, after being introduced to it by Mom. She has amazing taste and is a talented photographer, and this combination equals the most delicious images. She usually blogs about her wonderful vintage finds and decorating ideas, but you can also get a glimpse into her life and travels.

She has a great way of making the ordinary extraordinary. Here is a shot of her medicine cabinet - take a closer look inside...regular items like makeup brushes and philosophy products are placed among silver bowls and antique perfume bottles for a more sophisticated look.

Backyard entertaining is charming when fresh cut lemons and Trader Joe's lemonade is served with antique glasses and iced tea spoons.
These images are from my second favorite blog - Farm Chicks. They are located in Washington state and hold what looks to be the flea market to end all flea markets. But since I'm not getting out west anytime soon, their blog will have to do...
It's my dream to build a kitchen from scratch. How ideal is it to create your very own placement of cabinets, shelves, appliances, cubbyholes, lighting, not to mention counter tops, flooring, and colors?

I find it difficult to organize all of these inspirational ideas so they are in a place I can access easily. Since I love to organize you think I would have found a better system to keep all this stuff together but it feels so time consuming. Why would I spend hours creating individual folders for my decorating clippings when I should be organizing my work files? It can be exhausting to look through numerous folders labeled "home" or a library of retired magazines to find a picture or recipe that was inspiring many moons ago.
Then I came upon a website called Pinterest, where you can "pin" ideas onto a virtual inspiration board. A place where you can organize all of the decorating thoughts floating around in your head? Yes! Of course this seems like a perfect idea! I no longer have to remember where I put that recipe for blueberry cobbler or the picture I ripped out of a magazine to use for my rooftop garden next year. It's all in one place - an organizing freak's dream come true!
So after a few minutes of looking around, here is a look into my pinboard. Gone are the days of bookmarking sites and searching through magazine tear outs. I'm picturing my Mom's endless storage of her old Country Livings and Romantic Homes in our dusty old basement. You probably have your own disorganized mess in mind too but now you can use this space to save your brilliant ideas. This includes fashion, finances, weddings, babies, party planning, renovations, music, cooking, or whatever you like! You choose your pictures and your theme and get to work! Happy organizing!
